Charities and community groups making a positive impact in Heywood have once again received vital support thanks to the second round of grants from the Kavanagh & Coates Funeral Services Community Assistance Programme.
Earlier this year, the programme launched its first cycle of funding, awarding £1,000 to three local organisations. Now, a further £1,000 has been distributed to two inspiring community projects as part of the second funding round.
The latest recipients are:
- Parkinson’s UK Rochdale – awarded funding to provide financial support for hydrotherapy sessions for people living with Parkinson’s at a local pool in Castleton.
- Heywood in Bloom – awarded funding to support improvements at a local allotment, making it more
accessible and including the installation of a new wooden hut to host a range of community activities.
Funeral Director Samantha Collier said: “We are incredibly proud to support such meaningful projects here in Heywood. Both organisations are doing wonderful work to improve wellbeing and community spirit, and it’s our privilege to help them continue making a difference.”
Fellow Funeral Director Clare Dyson added: “Our second cycle of funding has highlighted, once again, the dedication and innovation within our local area. We can’t wait to see these projects develop, and we encourage more groups to come forward in the next round.”
The Community Assistance Programme aims to support local activities that enhance the quality of life for residents within a three-mile radius of the funeral home on Bethel Street, Heywood.
The final funding cycle of the year will open in mid-February 2026, with a further £1,000 available for local initiatives. Grants are available to fund local activities which improve the quality of life of residents and the wider community. Projects must align with one or more of the fund’s four categories – Health, Education, Employment Opportunities, and Poverty and Social Deprivation.
